CONDOLENCE MESSAGE | NUP REPORTS

 19th November, 2020

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

On behalf of the National Unity Platform, I would love to extend condolences to the families of all Ugandans who have lost lives in the senseless killings by security forces since yesterday, 18th November. We continue to receive updates about the victims of  shootings by the police, the military and other non-uniformed elements. The videos which we have watched, of security forces shooting at citizens indiscriminately, are very disturbing and regrettable.

We have so far reached out to the families of several of them to see what support we may offer.

We are very saddened that several Ugandans have had their lives cut short in such a brutal and senseless manner.

We condemn in the strongest terms possible, the extreme violence meted out on the people of Uganda by those who are supposed to protect us. There must be accountability for these crimes against humanity.

We also continue to demand for the unconditional release of Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, our presidential flag bearer. The continued violation of his rights, including the denial of access to his lawyers is shameful and must be condemned. The continued persecution and repression against him and other NUP leaders will come to an end.

David Lewis Rubongoya

Secretary General
